Rims on the River, which will be held on May 16th through 18th (postponed due to rain from original date April 18th through April 20th), is an annual event in Downtown Wilmington featuring classic cars and motorcycles previous to 1980 and older lining the streets of the historic downtown area. It’s quite a site to see, the familiar scenes of downtown downtown Wilmington bustling with springtime paired with the elegant classic cars of a bygone era.
This expanding event draws a range of vehicles from all over the southeast, even bringing car enthusiasts from states away!
The main car show begins Saturday at 11am and takes place on North and South Front Streets, all the way to Orange Street, heading north to Red Cross Street, near Cape Fear Community College. Admission to this event is free.
The Awards Presentation is at 4pm on Saturday on the main stage on Princess and N. Water Street. On Sunday, in honor of Autism Awareness Month, there will be a motorcycle poker run benefitting Oasis School for Autism. Registration is $20 and begins at 8:30AM at Slainte in Downtown Wilmington, with the ride beginning at 10:00AM. The ride will travel 120 miles and span over 3 counties.
